This is why corrupt politicians should be burned to the stake.
It's not natures' fault. It's massive deforestation caused by illegal logging. The illegal loggers don't get caught because they either give money to the politicians or it's the politicians themselves who are the illegal loggers.
It's common knowledge that the DENR (Department of Environment and Natural Resources) has been lax in their drive against the loggers for reasons you could prolly guess.
BTW, There used to me a mountain on that village.
its hard to tell the damage from that picture alone, but i'm sure it wasn't good...
it is crazy the atrocities that people commit on each other just for a couple bucks to overfeed their fat faces
I thought of you when I heard about this on the news.
Sad that none of the reasons for this are reported on the news. In the U.S., speed really does comes first, not accurateness of information. Recently whatever I was hearing people say on a news channel appeared on a little "recap ticker" or message at the bottom. Sometimes the recap ticker/message completely changed the meaning of the words. (Especially the case when a politician is talking)
In this case, "logging, combined with constant rains that have been going on for days, triggering a mudslide" is replaced with "constant rains that have been going on for days, triggering a mudslide." A slight change, but changes the whole meaning.
To Relsoft (aka Richard Eric M. Lope):
Boy, based on that very report, I can see why landslides present the ugliest side of mud you have ever seen, tragedies and all ( :x ), even in the fact that it apparently kills hundreds to thousands every year worldwide (not to mention *worse* than quicksand in spots, you know?). However, I am so delighted that that little child survived indeed.
!
Very delighted.
And, you have made such an excellent point about that deforestation stuff since it is the sheer catalyst for triggering landslides in the first place. I have seen worse stuff like that happen, like the mudslides shown on the Discovery Channel to find out just how deadly they really are, even in California, also.
My man Rel, on the fact that the child from the pic survived, I think it is QUITE a miracle in itself, wouldnât you say?
=b
See you again, and this is gonna be such an interesting issue, I will bet.

Damn... Greed! It's happeneing everywhere too. Maybe not landslides, but the rich man's greed knows no bounds. It's just so sad for everyone else when they
get in the way.
Half the mountain's gone. How could that be "natural"? Fuck!
