Fight It - By Alexander Joseph Pritchard

My story,
let me be the one to write it.
This temptation.
I have to fight it.

My story,
let me be the one to write it.

Can't stand not living my life,
always half-asleep,
never do see the light.

I have to fight it,
this temptation,
my curse.

Because I know I'm stronger,
than this.

When I give into it.
This curse of mine,
all my dreams go away.

Become d u s t in the wind,
they fade away.

Can't stand it when it calls me,
tells me I can't awake.
I try,
I really do.
But it won't let me speak.

Open my mouth
and hear my own voice,
ignored by the
temptation which rules me.

Maybe it's because
it keeps me half asleep.
able to hear
the words
but
unable to listen.

Help me dream,
if I am half-asleep.
Awake only when I struggle for hours.

Help me beauty,
if I can be awoken,
you have to guide me.
Help me unlock my power.

Sleeping inside me,
I feel it.
All around me,
it's you.

Whenever I need
something to get me out
of here.

There's you.
That image.
That Beauty.

Beauty help me write
my story.
Beauty help me fight
temptation.

I'd call out to you,
but I'm always half-asleep...

well there you have it folks. Hard, solid evidence that coders and literature DO NOT go together in the least. Wink Tongue
Quote:That's why I never write anything! I have wanted to contribute to Pete's mag, but my spelling and grammar both leave something to be desired... and that in itself is an understatement! Good try though, buddy. Wink

Lol...You know I entered this in a poetry contest (without all the coloring edits) and I was nominated to go to Las Vegas and win an award.

Problem is I'm a young poet and the prizes suck Big Grin - They didn't know my age though at the time (just for you thinking they cared not of the poem), but yeah...The prizes for "young poets" are like $1000 and it costs $500 to register. >_<;; Grawr.
