I understand some servers are getting fed up with people abusing their broadband limits. So one way of restricting us is to limit the size of Video files we can download etc. A way of avoiding such limits might be to split large files into smaller files to email, then the receiver can rejoin the files after receiving them.

If your visit my QB page below. At the bottom you will see you can download a zip file holding two Freeware file splitters. One enables any file to split into sections of your choice for use over the Internet, and the other automatically splits the files and copies them onto floppies.

You need to supply a copy of the first file to the receiver, to enable the splits to be rejoined, but you can see from the notes this is done automatically with the second, which saves the necessary SPLICE.COM onto the first floppy.

Yuo might want to switch isp's. Mine is unlimited bandwidth. Wink
Exactly.
This has been suggested to me before, but the problem is I run 6 websites using Wanadoo most linked from a number of other sites and forums like this one. So I do not relish the idea of not only uploading to new sites, but also tracking down all the links to the current sites.

Actuall I personaly have no problem with downloading videos etc, as I never try downloading very large files. I even refused to download the SP2 from MS, and only instlled it when a friend gave it to me.
What does your ISP hast to do with your webhost? Is your ISP hosting your sites? Are you abusing your bandwidth by hosting on your own machine?
As I understand it with most servers, certianly for the UK, if you have an email address of theirs, especailly if you pay them for Broadband use. they provide free web space. As all the stuff on my site is Freeware I am not interested on paying for web space or fancy domain names. So I use the web space allocted by Wanadoo for me and a couple of friends.
You can pick up a .co.uk domain name for around a fiver for 2 years subscription now. Using that allows you to move your site wherever you want and just update the redirect. That works out at about 20 pence per week Smile
PIPTOL! Where the cracker have you been?
Bloody hell! This is a good deal, is this! j/k

Hi, Pip! Tongue
Does anyone know of a good broadband ISP in the UK?, i've been looking but most seem to have contention ratios of 50/1 or worse, and limit you to a couple of gigabytes per month, unless you pay a lot of money.
