I have an Audigo MP3 player, but not the manual or USB cord. My digital camera's USB cord seems to fit the mp3 player, though - is it safe to use it, or are there different USB cord types?
As far as I can see, it should work. As long as it's the right type on each end. A USB cord is a USB chord.
Thanks, you are right. It works just fine.
you should break your digital camera just in case.
There are different variations on the "little end" of the usb cords that connect digital devices to the computer, but if it fits in there then it will generally work... cuz if it doesn't fit in there quite right then you shouldn't try it anyways [/common sense]
A USB cord consists of four wires. Two for power (black and red) and two for signal (green and white). They are all the same, except for plug variations. If it fits, feel free to use it. BTW some have a little round thing on them, like monitor cables. Don't worry about it. It's just a metal cylinder surrounding the cable and it isn't wired up to anything.

Go for it. Save yourself ten bucks.
Then why the crap do they cost so much? Big Grin
Those black cylinders are snap-on chokes (inductors), which offer high impedance to RF energy, keeping interference down, IIRC.
They don't do a very good job - the little power supply for my amateur radio tranceiver has one clipped on, but it still generates hummmmmmmm on the FM broadcast bands.

Because the average consumer has to call the geek squad in order to set the time on their vcr these days. (well i have no idea why they would be buying a vcr, but if they DID...). Cat5e internet cable is EXTREMELY easy to make, yet it costs a lot of money at your local electonics store. its a good way to make money actually. Most people don't try to understand electronics, that is why it has to be so idiot-proofed.
they don't call it a universal serial bus for nutten.
1m of standard USB cable, $22.
3m of Cat5 Patch cable, $9.
The same of crossover, $15.

Buy the patch and get a kitchen knife. Save $6. Tongue

Oh here's one: base 10/100Mbps ethernet card: $22 or higher, depending on brand and features.
