This is always fun.
I just got a cheap Audigo-brand (I've never heard of it either) MP3 player. It works fine, but the operating manual is funny. Big Grin
Some quotes:
Quote:At the preface it states:
"1. Don't use this mp3 player at follwing environment: high temperature, low temperature, dampness, much dust and debunk in sunshine below chronically.
2. Please use tweaked dry wet cotton cloth wipe this player's outer shell lightly, forbid use other chemical solution to wash"
Then is has a list of "Assertions"...
"Assertions:
1. For preventing from data lose[sic], we suggest that you should copy the important data. The result of data loss, our company does not take charge of it.
...
5. If mp3 player has any change, we do not announce seperately, please forgive.
6. We have ever carefully checked the operation instruction, but can not obviate that there is also a few mistakes. If you discover, please contact our consumer service and confirm. Our company is not charge with specification's mistakes or careless omission cause from this."
Mistakes? No way! Big Grin
"Note: The unit is a brand-new digital carry-on listening equipment. Stand by MP1, MP2, MP3, WMA, WMV, ASF, WAV waiting for format music. The unit with perfect tone quality, high credibility, and the fine appearance benefit mutually most, is called master level work, sincere hope she can bring digital era's transcendent enjoy for you."
What were they doing, just plugging in words?
Under the lyric-play feature (this might be the funniest):
"How to know whether it has lyric? If current song have lyric, then music mode in top left is horny."
WTF?!! Probably referring to the little icon with a musical notes...but still...
There's more. But at the end it also says:
" The common mp3 consumer disturbed by "betray", do not hope the "personal data" covered by others, when friend borrw MP3 can only delete these "privacy" which resulted in very big trouble."
Need I say this unit is made in China? Big Grin
All that gave me some good laughs.
I claim full rights for New Scientist-Feedback submission!
Yeah that's how the manual looked for my $5 pocket-sized digital camera (you just push the button, it beeps, and then you hook it up to the computer and download really low quality pics in a 320x200 resolution, hehe)
haha, thats awesome Zack. Genuinely funny translations, good find! :)

At McDonalds, the signs say "we welcome you come back soon!"

If I find the picture (my teacher has it from her travels) I'll post it.
one of my favourites was 'backstroke of the west' a pirate subtitle translation of star wars 'revenge of the sith'. I saw a site somewhere with lots of funny screenshots.
