Why the change of heart, surely the notorious anti-semetic/nazi sympathiser wouldn't have a problem being a homophobe too?

1.- Z!re is not anti semitic. I don't understand what's the offense in calling a jew "jew". It's like if I felt offended being called "Spaniard", "agnostic" or "whitey" - unless "jew" is considered an offensive word in your language, I think it's just the short for "jewish". If you think Z!re is nazi sympathiser or anti-semitic, man, you don't know her at all.
2.- "Gay" means "happy". I think it's pretty clear on this context, even for a non-English speaker like me.

Rhetorical question: If you indeed felt offended by being called "Spaniard", "agnostic" or "whitey", would you like it if somebody kept calling you that? (the reasons why you feel a certain way are irrelevant; what matters is only that you do)

Quote:...unless "jew" is considered an offensive word in your language...
I think the point is not what others consider offensive. Obviously, "jew" is an offensive word for some people. I don't understand why others, regardless of their personal views on the subject - can't understand and/or respect that.
I don't know your language in and out, but last time I checked, jew was just the short word for "jewish". That's why I didn't consider it offensive.

If I would feel offended when I'm called "Spaniard", I would get angry when someone calls me that. But, again, why would I feel offended for someone calling me what I am?

If you meet two guys, one white, Mark, and other black, Paul. If someone asks you who's "Paul", is it offensive to say "the black one"?. No. I'm a whitey, so it's pretty common that I'm called a whitey. 'Cause I'm a whitey.

Anyway, the way Z!re used it was teasing and annoying, but that doesn't make somebody an "anti-semitic" or "nazi". What happens if I have a grudge with someone who's... let's say, Tibetan. Does it mean that I'm anti-Tibetan? c'mon!

I think things have gone a bit haywire, IMHO.

Z!re has her particular way to make points that nobody seems to understand. Z!re's point was "why you get angry when I call you "jew", if you are a jew?", that's why she kept with that, to annoy this guy. Is that cool? No, of course. But calling someone "antisemitic" for such a stupidity is going over the top, man.

This isn't about language, it's about respect. Yes, "jew" is a literal shortening of "jewish". So what? The members that do consider it offensive have made their views quite clear, imo.

Again, you're trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. It doesn't matter why you would feel offended. People look at the world differently - that's the why.

Quote:But calling someone "antisemitic" for such a stupidity is going over the top, man.
lol. "antisemitic" is going over the top? I think the top was gone over long before the word "antisemitic" showed up. =/ (i don't believe anybody here is a bigot, and calling people that is merely sidestepping the real issue here: respect.)
Quote:why would I feel offended for someone calling me what I am?
If you already know what you are, and they know for having called you that, what is the point of it besides them trying to say something else besides what you are?

Basically, there is no point. The only reason would be to insult you/if in the right context, complement you.

My point is in this paragraph. I can try and write it more clear.

Do you remember, when you were a kid? You call someone "you're a dirty pants! you're a dirty pants!", and the guy gets angry. You keep calling him "you're a dirty pants!" 'cause the guy keeps getting angry.

If someday, the guy doesn't give a shit, you don't call it "you're a dirty pants!" anymore, as it has no effect so the effort is completely futile and it's not funny anymore, so you don't call him "dirty pants" anymore.

That was Z!re's point. I think it wasn't so hard to understand.

The problem is that Z!re tends to use "explanation by example" taking it to the most annoying and disturbing limits. A problem even bigger than this one is that 90% of the time people don't understand her way and things like this happen. Please return to the starting point, to the very first time where "jew" was used, re-read everything, and you'll understand.

Do I think this is the proper way to do things? Hell, no. But things have gone way too far.
The fact that Z!re's trying to make a point doesn't elude(?) me, but I also don't think it eludes anybody else, particularly those she's targetting. IOW, everybody can safely assume Z!re isn't an antisemite. I made the comment before how it surprises me that some people haven't learned to ignore her flames by now, they're just fueling the fire (maybe they're masochists ?).
I'm pretty sure that's the cause #1 of Z!re's attitude. I would put my hand over the fire Big Grin

(btw, what's "IOW"? Wink )
