Okay, I'm weird. Ctrl/Alt = left/right. Z = backwards and right mouse button = forwards. I've been using those keys since the original Doom days before the invented wasd ;-).

Pretty hard to say one over the other for me... both have their uses. In a game with many keyboard shortcuts, WASD isn't too great, but WASD is in a slightly better spot that up down right left.

I'm a lefty and I still use WASD, i've just gotten used to it, plus I have a laptop and the arrow keys are smushed down under the shift key.
