Sometimes the way the story in that show goes just makes me wanna cry. There's a lot of good that you think might happen in the show, but because of the way the characters are in the show, it never does.
Like tonight's episode (spoiler warning):
Fry found his dog from way back in 2000. He goes through all this trouble to go ahead and get it cloned, but when the professor extracts the DNA, it's found he lived a full life of 15 years. Fry tells the professor to abort the cloning, assuming he lived a full, happy life (as fry only had the dog a short while while it was young).
Turns out as we find in the very end of the episode. The dog waited every single day of it's life until the day it died waiting for Fry to come back. What's really sad is you see things change before your eyes. Like, a lot of time's gone by. The pizza shop owner too, ends up walking outside with a cane.
Episode ends just like that. Fry doesn't learn of this. Hell, he could have at least checked his memories (something stated as possible in the year 3000 in the show).
There's been other cases, such as when Fry apparently arranged the stars for Leela, only to have them gobbled up by a black hole when he finally remembers doing it.
It's harsh. Yeah, it's just a cartoon, but it reminds me of how life actually is. Sad and harsh.
End Spoilers
Oh btw, my teeth hurt like all fuckin hell. Just got braces on my bottom teeth. I can't fucking sleep so I'm awake writing this instead. Just wanna take a knife and cut out my gums and let the braces adjust them out of my mouth. Ugh . . .
