RPG engine. 16x16 tiles, or 20x20? |

Here is the issue people...I have a nearly complete RPG engine in the latter stages of development. I'm talking mere months from completion. Now, I planned this to be used by not only my games, but others in the programming/RPG making community. as I look through the vast majority of RPG-making sites there are tilesets abounds in 16x16 format. However, up till now, I've been using 20x20. Personally I like the level of detail those 4 little pixels allow, but some peope out there are not artists. So, should I stick to 20x20 or jump on the 16x16 bandwagon? I'm not concerned about the tiling code, but the NPC/Object code may be a pain to re-write.

ok, heres the story.....ive got in a little over my head. My friend at school challenged me to a rpg making contest. I have no programmin experience, however, i do have a storyline, character designs, and every aspect i need planned out......now im trying to learn qbasic and i realize that im a long way away from an rpg.....see, i need a few good men, to either help me, or join my team, and help program an engine.....the game name is Paths Of Destiny, if you would like a little peice of the beggining storyline, i can send it to u. This is a early release of my car game..
The trackeditor is as good as done, the only thing that i know i'm gonna do is to add some more sprites..
The engine for the game is like 20% complete, right now i'm remaking the collision detection, so the collision detection in the demo is just a thing i tried like weeks ago and in the final version it will be much better..
The final version will inlcude:
- 2 player mode
- More cars with diffrent specs
- A one player mode where you open tracks (no ai cars thought, don't know how to do it)
- Sound effects, wav and hopefully mp3 music, if that dosen't work i'll put some groove midi music in
- Slicker graphics =)
Well that's about all...
Now, i really need comments and suggestions about the game, so i can better it for YOU guys =)
