Just updated Pete's QB Site... 20 year anniversary :)

It's the first update in 10 years, but hey!  It's an update!

I also restored an archive of V Planet!  The site hasn't been online in nearly 10 years, aside from archive.org.

Fling-master has uploaded an archive version of QBRpgs.com to http://qbrpgs.blarg.ca/. It's in read only mode but contains a lot of great information.

I just discovered that QB Games in the Browser is a thing

And it's ridiculously awesome.  So many of our classics, mere clicks away!

Though evidently, this news isn't quite breaking!

Removed links to sites that are no longer active or QBasic related
Posted by: wildcard - 09-03-2017, 12:14 AM - Forum: QB/FB News - Replies (2)

It's been a long while since the last update to the website but I've finally checked the links on the front page. It's unfortunate several high profile sites are no longer working or have been replaced with spam or unrelated content. If you notice anything wrong or looking strange on the website please leave a comment below or email  me. Qbasic may be a little less popular than it used to be but I'm keen to keep this site running well even if it's a little quiet.

  Relsoft needs help... for real.
Posted by: Dr_Davenstein - 03-20-2017, 12:44 AM - Forum: General/Misc - Replies (1)

His wife has cervical cancer and he's being forced to sell his property to pay medical expenses. You guys know him and how good of a person he is. How many of us has he tutored for free? Let's show him how much we appreciate that. Not only that, but it's just love. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I've gotten so close to him over the years, he's like my brother. Let's see how much we can help. Please contribute if you can. Don't feel bad if you can't.

  Qbasic history
Posted by: Optimus - 07-04-2014, 05:35 PM - Forum: General/Misc - Replies (1)

I am wondering, are there any old articles/pages talking about the history of qbasic scene, when the communities were formed, what were the highlights of each year, and all that? I do remember reading one such article about 3d graphics in quickbasic, describing some early years I didn't know (like first triangle rasterizer at 1992 running on 286 at good speed)  and later years with demos or game engines I remember and was impressed. Now I am curious about the same for games that were highlights of the year, maybe some stories, the QB is long dead and forgotten and it will make me happy to read some old or newer articles describing how was the community during earlier or later years.

  QB for Linux
Posted by: GordonSweet - 12-10-2013, 12:52 PM - Forum: QB Discussion & Programming Help - No Replies

I have had some success compiling FB code to work under Mint, Knoppix and Slackware Puppy using the compiler at http://fbc.deltalabs.de/ I do not risk typing in complex code to install FB on any Linux. Hopefully an auto installer Pet file will be produced one day for certain Linux. But the FB compiler will not accept early QB or FB code.

Has anyone managed to produce a similar QB online installer please ?

  Windows 7 and Quickbasic
Posted by: GordonSweet - 03-16-2013, 07:23 PM - Forum: QB Discussion & Programming Help - Replies (2)

Has anyone else had this probelm with Windows 7 and 32 bit of course and found the solution?

I can compile BAS files OK and run the EXE file OK providing it is still on the same Quickbasic directory. But if I copy the EXE files anywhere else I get a warning    Input run-time module path:    waiiting for me to enter something. Using and compilign under Dosboxe makes no difference, and the problem does not happen under dear old Windows XP with another PC.

On both PCs the paths under Options are the same, and the files in exactly the same folders.
