I was being dead serious. First of all, you have to know when to use PNG and when not to. For the images in his site that are large, PNG will cut the size many times over, whereas JPEG will do nothing but bloat it. The more color coherant an image is, the more of an advantage will go to PNG, whereas the less color coherance there is, JPEG gets the advantage. It's all as issue of subject matter...most cartoons, comics, line art, or anything with color pooling is better suited for PNG, but photographs, logos with heavy gradients, or any type of image with a lot of colors and color transitions is better suited for JPEG.

Ahh... we are enlightened. I take it that PNG uses are colour compression then? Btw, good article, Fling! I also enjoyed your older article about Retro Games, keep up the good work!
