Aww heck.... I just have to double topic =P

I made a new game, Quarmageddon.

Yes, the name is a blatant rip off.
Yes I was playing Lachie's wonderful REO at the time...

Oh, btw.... you must run this on an old computer!! Its not as good on XP for some reason, it rather slow. Much nicer and more responive on older computers...
  • ::Includes::

Space bar for handbrake

heh - not slow at all at my computer. You should check your configuration, it is not a XP problem but a bad configured MSDOS VM.

Nice game, I'll give you more in-depth comments later Smile

Quarma - KiZ - 02-10-2004

ahh right, how can i configure my DOS VM?

thanks.. =P

Quarma - Zack - 02-10-2004

Yeah, how can we? Because I'm sick of not being able to play games like this...

Quarma - na_th_an - 02-10-2004

Look for _DEFAULT.PIF and fiddle with the options.

Quarma - Zack - 02-10-2004

Okay, what do we do with _DEFAULT.PIF?

Quarma - na_th_an - 02-10-2004

I dunno, it depends on your PC. Try deactivating screen saver, setting background tasks to idle, play with the idle settings, et cetera.

Darkprevail, does your program play with the palette in the main loop? Which videocards do you have in both computers?

Some video cards are slow when updating the DACs.

Quarma - Zack - 02-10-2004

Uh...opening the file in notepad yields gibberish, and clicking on the shortcut...gives an error.
[edit] Add this to The Geekery too. :rotfl:

Quarma - KiZ - 02-10-2004

well, the program leaves the pallette as it is during the main loop.
On my programing comp, I have some reeeeal crappy 1mb (yes, 1mb!) video card. On my newer computer, a GeForce 2.

Edit:
Zack: done!

Quarma - Zack - 02-10-2004

Okay, I just tried the game...
Heehee...I like it. Fun. A little too difficult, though. And maybe you should have an option "Play again?".
Otherwise, very cool. 8)
[edit]Thanks for submitting the Game. Big Grin
I should make something like that...then again, I'd probably fail in the end. Sad
