I drew a RPG character. My very first. - adosorken - 04-22-2004 The hair's too blurred...needs to be a bit more solid. You shouldn't oversmooth like that...it makes it look very "messy"... What do you mean you can't change that now? Pulease. Hrm...that palette looks exactly like the one I used in WOS...right down to the blacked out fifteenth row... I drew a RPG character. My very first. - Zack - 04-22-2004 It's a palette that comes with PixelPlus256...wait. Maybe I downloaded it from a distro that *you* uploaded, with your stuff in it. Might be possible. In any case, I like the palette, so I use it. DP, thanks. Nath, Nek, so I should change to 16 colors. Well, I'll do a remake and try to restrict myself. (do they have to be the FIRST 16 colors in the palette?) I drew a RPG character. My very first. - na_th_an - 04-22-2004 No. Not even 16. Just less colours, and in a row. This sprite only has 18 colours: note how you don't need more. Why "less" colours: 1.- you don't need such blurness: you can't notice it in such a small sprite. Note how the shades are too similar and undistinguishable looking at the sprite. 2.- Better to have all the colours your sprite uses in a row, so it is easier to alter them in the program. Anyhow, I would suggest you to start with a front, standing view of your Sprite. It helps on defining the proportions, and working other views from a front view is easier than working a front view from a side view. I drew a RPG character. My very first. - Zack - 04-22-2004 Thanks for the pointers (great work on that sprite, too...). I'll try it again, from the front. I drew a RPG character. And exactly like the one Rel used in his RPG demo included in Rellib. I drew a RPG character. My very first. - Zack - 04-22-2004 Hey...I just noticed that... I drew a RPG character. My very first. - Josiah Tobin - 04-22-2004 Isn't RPG.pal a pallette Darkdread created then put up for public use? I drew a RPG character. My very first. - KiZ - 04-23-2004 Yep I think so. The tiles that Rel uesd in his RPG demo were orginally created by Darkdread, so that seems probable. I drew a RPG character. My very first. - adosorken - 04-23-2004 What you're looking at is my modified version of the NMedia palette that Tek created a number of years ago. I took that palette and killed the fifteenth row for use in WOS (the face images used the fifteenth row for their own mini-palettes) and it's very likely that that palette has since spread around the Qmunity. It's a great palette but I also had an improved one in which I added flesh tones along the first column, since all those blacks were effectively going to waste... DarkDread and I used to work together, so it's highly possible that he used the same palette. Zack: keep trying, looks like you at least got the basic idea down. I drew a RPG character. My very first. - Zack - 04-23-2004 I drew a character using only the first 16 colors of the screen 13 *standard* palette. Needless to say, it looks crappy. This time it uses the standard palette... http://thegeekery.org/RPGC4.PUT It's embarassing! |
