the title under the nikname - axipher - 12-13-2005 Quote:woah.. woah... woaaah!.. How did I miss THIS topic. Well who said I wnted to look less silly, and it was more of as soon as the PSU touched the prongs of the HD it buzzed, my uncle grabbed it from me and held it there, and it doesn't go in backwards, but putting it in on an angle works. Now regarding the outlet, it wasn't us who wired it, when we did get it out eventually, it wasn't grounded, imagine having a whole entertainment system plus your computer plugged into it and 1 thing frying, everything would go, I think anyway. Now I don't want a ball mouse, I can easily go in my storgae room and pull out 8, last time I counted anyway and the formatting thing, I had a virus infecting my HD, not a file but the HD, so I reinstalled Windows XP Home and the virus was no more, unless my HD was special. Now if you cried at your HD clicking, my "accident" would have been an opera for you with special effects, those being minor sparks and the beautiful smell of burned plastic... Mmmmm, burnt plastic, chicken burgers are better though. the title under the nikname - Deleter - 12-14-2005 Quote::lol: Nicena_th_an Wrote:Wasn't Doom written in QBasic?QBasic 1.93.. the title under the nikname - LooseCaboose - 12-14-2005 Quote:and it was more of as soon as the PSU touched the prongs of the HD it buzzed, my uncle grabbed it from me and held it there Huh? Were you doing this while the machine is running or what? You should have the computer switched off and the cable unplugged before you do any tinkering. Quote:Then a week later, I am at my uncle's house and one of the builder's hardwired a 6 outlet plug into the wall, thinking it was just plugged in, my uncle tries to pull it out. It doesn't want to come out so he decides to grab a screwdriver and try to pry it out Doing smart things like this can wind you up dead. Put the screwdriver in the wrong place and you'll find yourself connected to the mains. Quote:Now I don't want a ball mouse, I can easily go in my storgae room and pull out 8 You dont want to use a readily available ball-mouse even though your current optical one wigs out and clicks all over the screen for you? Well, I guess beggars can be choosers after all ;-) the title under the nikname - whitetiger0990 - 12-14-2005 Haha I was kidding about blaming Microsoft making you look less silly. Sorry I just wanted to see if he'd say it. My bad. >_< Anyways: Code: I had a virus infecting my HD, not a file but the HD, so I reinstalled Windows XP Home and the virus was no more, unless my HD was special. And also: @axipher: Did you unplug it? or did you try to hotswap a HD? the title under the nikname - Deleter - 12-14-2005 Quote:Haha I was kidding about blaming Microsoft making you look less silly. Sorry I just wanted to see if he'd say it. My bad. >_<the closet I know of a virus that doesn't affect a file persay simply runs in ram and continually writes to one spot on your harddrive, thus destroying it...A pretty nasty program imo the title under the nikname - axipher - 12-14-2005 Pretty much like Deleter said, except when I ran the virus scnner (Norton and McAfee), they both picked up on it but it was called ???.??? and was a ??? type of virus, so they couldn't delete it, and no the computer was not running, but it was pluuged in and the power switch was on, we were trying it while continuously booting the computer to see if it worked and then buzz, and the screwdriver I used was coated with a material that is resistant to 10,000 volts which is much more then your average apartment outlet. the title under the nikname - LooseCaboose - 12-14-2005 Quote:and no the computer was not running, but it was pluuged in and the power switch was on Newer machines/PSUs actually still supply a small amount of power to the board even when they are switched off, which is why you should always have the machine unplugged from the wall before you attempt any "maintainance". It also helps to know what you are doing before you go randomly pulling bits in and out of your computer. Quote:and the screwdriver I used was coated with a material that is resistant to 10,000 volts which is much more then your average apartment outlet Still not a good idea to play with the mains supply. Like I said, one mistake and you'll wind up dead. the title under the nikname - axipher - 12-14-2005 Quote:axipher Wrote:and no the computer was not running, but it was pluuged in and the power switch was on First off, you can't really call it maintenance, it was trying to access the HD which was password protected through Windows 2000 and we couldn't in so I got a suggesstion to try and use a second HD and format the other HD, and I nkew what I was doing, just the HD's power input place was a square so the PSU fit both ways, I could have looked at the colors, but that would require me to to extra work. For the second comment, if I were to die, which I highly doubt, who would really actually miss me??? the title under the nikname - Z!re - 12-14-2005 Quote:First off, you can't really call it maintenance, it was trying to access the HD which was password protected through Windows 2000 and we couldn't in so I got a suggesstion to try and use a second HD and format the other HD, and I nkew what I was doing, just the HD's power input place was a square so the PSU fit both ways, I could have looked at the colors, but that would require me to to extra work.Stupid Quote:For the second comment, if I were to die, which I highly doubt, who would really actually miss me???No. But it would be sad, as you have yet to convert to Z!reism, so your soul would be lost forever.. heathen. the title under the nikname - axipher - 12-14-2005 Quote:I know I am stupid, actually it's more of lazy, but I am sure there is smoe stupid in tehre anyway, and hwo would I go about converting to Z!reism, I'm already a lost cause, I'm long gone, but what harm could converting to Z!reism do.axipher Wrote:First off, you can't really call it maintenance, it was trying to access the HD which was password protected through Windows 2000 and we couldn't in so I got a suggesstion to try and use a second HD and format the other HD, and I nkew what I was doing, just the HD's power input place was a square so the PSU fit both ways, I could have looked at the colors, but that would require me to to extra work.Stupid P.S.: Please make no comment on me not being lazy by typing I am instead of I'm or just typing properly period. |
