I've been noticing lately that News isn't being added for a while since it was submitted...on several occasions I've submitted news, and it was added up to 3 days later.
Even now, I updated The Geekery, and it's been 24 hours about...anyway, news isn't news anymore if it isn't new.

There is something I've been thinking of. You could designate a group of people and upgrade them to "news feeders". Currently, only admins can post news and that's cool, but when admins are busy Qbasicnews doesn't offer news.
Maybe you could create a special rank that could post news in the news section. Trustable people that generate news, just to aid in your work.
Just a thought.

Yeah...good idea, Nath. Kinda like a moderator, except only with news-adding privelages...sounds cool.
And make em' people that are on a lot, because otherwise it won't make a difference...

I agree, I'm not saying the admins are actually
slacking off or anything, but sometimes it can be a little annoying when I post an update, and a week later it still hasn't shown up, so I have to harass him on MSN to add my update...

Exactly - and like I said, news isn't news anymore. By that time one could be doing another update.

Hrmmm "News Feeders" huh? That's not a bad idea... We'll discuss the idea. I personally think it would be a great idea and would take some of the "load" off of us (as if it's hard at all... I think it's mainly a laziness thing... well it is with me
).

Good to hear...IMO about three or four active members would do it..plus all of you admin...
Btw thanks for adding that news of mine.

If it's possible to interface the phpBB news posting with the nuke (or whatever it is) news submission system so news posters can't "tinker" with the rest of the site, why not?
Personally, I hardly ever check the news. It's a different system, so a different login. And sometimes it's hard to decide whether stuff is junk or not...
