AFAIK, there are converters which can export posts from PHPBB2 to better systems. In fact, every proper forum system has an import feature.

I'd go for that. If we install a proper forum system which is resistant to spamming (at least a bit more resistant than this system is), then we could migrate all the posts and nothing would be lost.

C'mon, no other forum on earth has the amount of info you can find in this. The contents of this forum is like a treasure in my eyes. I would find it very sad that this place would become the place people links to from other forums when somebody asks something.

At least, let's study the viability on switching forum systems.
