If this is going to be expansive, hardcoding all the descriptions and stuff will most likely take more time, as it won't be streamlined. With file stuff, the process becomes streamlined and after a certain size is reached (which I imagine would easily be reached by this project) it is more efficent.
@axipher: descriptions do not have to be vague at all, in fact the more specific you are, without being ridiculous, the more original and enjoyable it becomes. Saying "you're are in a dense forest with tall trees" would be way too vague. This would become bland quickly. I find that when I am reading, if there is too much description, I select the parts I like best and forget the rest, but if there is not enough, I get bored with the text and abandon it. So you really can not get too detailed.
