Hey d00ds  Wink

Figured I'd come by and say hi! And maybe blog a lil about whats goin on in my part of the world. Biggest thing going on now is, I've gotten a job as a pro' .NET developer! Its my first official coding job, and I gotta say, I'm learning tons.

Its funny, it seems like just yesterday I was working at a gas station, with no desire to move up. Coding for fun in between customers. I would have never imagined that I'd be doing what I'm doing now!

Anyways, other than that, I've moved a ton. Went from KS to CT, then in another 6 months, from CT to VT, and now that I've got a good job, looks like i'm gonna be in VT for a while.

Also, about 3 months ago, the random-seed.net forum was brought to its knees by a 'hacker'. It was really just a friend, who thought he'd be nice and point out a security flaw by exploiting it.  But, I fixed the security, and its all back up now....    I'm going to be hosting code compo's with tangible prizes in the near future.... I'll prolly post here when that gets started.

Anyhoo, its good to see this place is still up, In so many ways, this site alone has changed my life.

Congrats on the new job, I am thinking of moving careers from finance to coding but not too many coding jobs in the city I live in.

How's your coding projects been going?

Personal projects, or work projects? hehe

On the personal side, I've got a few things going on.  I'm a lil scatter brain right now with all the code I'm working with day in and day out. I'm working on a demo launcher that will launch and run apps at random or in a play list, kind of like how an audio player plays random tracks. Then I'm working on a demo system using Irrlicht in c++. Plus I've got a couple half done demo's in Basic4gl and Blitz3d.

After I get a few of those done, I'm going to recode the random-seed.net forum from the ground up. But not before I start the compo stuff.

Aside from that, I've been stayin up late,  playing a lot of the Neocron mmo.

Man, I wish I could work as a coder. I suck too much. Never worked on myself as a programmer.

But at least I'm employed (for now). Tongue

I was considering going into computers/software when I was in high school, but I realised I enjoyed it more as a hobby than a job, have been reconsidering that lately.

Jobs are good for the getting money part, not so good for waking up everyday and going to them Smile

Well, their were some troubles w/ the rsnet forum. . . Fixed it by moving over to a new forum, UseBB. Should be pretty sweet...  Anybody that wants to check it out can do so @  http://random-seed.net/forum

wildcard, I agree... it seems that everything I love to do as a hobby ends up being pretty dismal to do as a job.

For example, I love making films, tv shows and animations for fun, and I got a degree in it -- but ever since I started working professionally in the television industry, I've realized that I don't enjoy it as much as I thought I did.

I suppose it might have to do with having complete control and working on my own projects (hobbies) vs. working on other people's projects.

I like to ride quadbikes. I do that for a living. Not my official title, as a cattle herdsman. My hobby is coding and stuff.

Good stuff xteraco.
