running gorillas
#1
Hi there, I need some help. I'm not the most computer literate person in the world and i'm having trouble running the gorillas game in QBASIC. I have downloaded all the files needed, and the game file. it will open the file in qbasic no problem but when I click run, my screen goes black and then i get a meesage:

C:\DOCUME~1\PAULAN~1\Desktop\DOS\QBASIC.EXE
The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.
CS:c000 IP:019e OP:63 70 36 31 2d Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

Please can somebody help me with this? what does it mean? and how can I get the game to run?

Appreciate any comments.

thanks for you time

It is always a reasonable courtesy to supply the information that will enable a potential helper to locate and download the program you are referring to.  With that information, one can download the program and apply debugging tecniques to find the problem(s) you are having.  Without the program, we are clueless!

Bummer. Never saw that before, but it looks like your QBasic is corrupt. Try downloading a fresh copy.

Actually, never mind. NTVDM is higher than QBasic. Your whole DOS system may be corrupt. Maybe you upgraded to Vista which no longer supports DOS worth a darn.

Try posting your question on some other QBasic forums. Maybe someone has seen it.

Are you running on XP or Vista? Do other programs work alright?
