omg compsci admins

They just re-imaged our compsci lab at school. Luckily I'd been working on Empyrean lots at home, so I didn't lose anything...

Anyhow, they setup all our logins again with approximately zero priviledges. Policynewk is okay, I guess, but it's frustrating to have to do it when all I want is to copy files from a cd-rom to my network drive. I can't even view->properties on files. I can't view details, I have to browse a 10MB TP directory sorted by name and in large icons.

I swear, our admin is out of touch. He re-images the comps every night now so that we're forced to store data on the network...

so, he reformats the local hard drives, you mean?
Peace cannot be obtained without war. Why? If there is already peace, it is unnecessary for war. If there is no peace, there is already war."

You're lucky. The college I got my CIS/Networking Associates degree from (Ivy Tech) expected us to do networking related collaberation with floppies!

Well it was just ludicrous that they expected us to develop software on a 20MB network drive to which you couldn't copy from a disc. I mean, the guy installed an incomplete version of TP that didn't have the crt bug patched. You can't compile 99.9% of source files on it! And what's worse, the period before us is some graphics design class. They'd all installed photoshop7 long ago, but this guy came and re-imaged them with Photoshop 5 Limited Edition... sure it's legal... it's also useless.

Anyway, policynewk ownz all.
