Random Qbasic conference idea
#1
Just some thoughts...

how about if there was a sort of one-week, two-week qbasic conference like E3, except completely online? Each game's window would have the name of the game, some screenshots, a small thing where people could leave comments and rate the game, a tagboard where people could leave questions and the programmer cound answer them if they were online at the moment. There could also be a download for demos or the entire game.

On the homepage there would be lists for most downloaded games (if acclipicable), highest rated games, and a "game of the hour" thing with a link to the game's booth.

People would vote and awards would be given for best graphics, best sound (if there's a download), best story, best in show, etc... and at the end of the week the awards would be given out.

There would be a forum for discussion about games, where each game would get its own thread, for longer discussion that could not be done on the tagboard; another forum for programming tips, and another for general off-topic stuff.

it would be called the QBasic Entertainment Conference Online. QBEco. Yep.

maybe I'll do this when I finally get a server and learn PHP, MySQL, etc... So.. uh.. yeah. I need to stop thinking so much.

It's quite an intriguing idea, but I'm not really up for it. There are plenty of sites out there with game info and project info and whatnot, not to mention QB is what, 16 years old? Ya... let's just say that we're game developers and go to the real E3 instead Tongue
am an asshole. Get used to it.

I've heard about it, but not much.

It was exactly what you want. But it was poorly organized, and the QB community is a wee small for such a thing.

It's not small, toonski. It is as big as the C community, if it (the C community) even exists, by the looks of google.com searches.

I hypothesize a different answer: the QB community remains staunchly Independent, unlike the C/C++ community (E3). That, my friends, is a community of slavery. Programming slaves program stuff, and the best ones get their stuff shown at E3 by their Overlord Masters who do "jack sh*t".

And that's the way the cookies crumble.
