port 80, raw connection.(under putty anyways, it kicks telnets ass)

You cant use telnet style connection, you have to connect with what web browsers use. At least i think its port 80...

Why do you do that? So you can see the HTTP headers or something?

So you can see the original source to the php file. Right now I have no idea what to TYPE IN to putty to get that file though. I tried googling for help, but to no avail. I tried to help some poor saps on a forum somewhere, but they never emailed me my password. Here's what I was TRYING to say:

level 6 you need a packet sniffer. Try to connect with anything in username and password, then it should catch 9 packets or so. Search for the encryption type with the username and password. I won't tell you what they are, but you need to research Baconian Cipher A=aaaaa encryption.

As for level 7, I have no blinking clue. I'm trying to learn how to use putty for that one.

It wants you to be using ie 7.whatever, so you pretend you are using 7.whatever. How? Use your packetsniffer to see just what you webbrowser sends the website, then modify it a little to suit your needs and see how it goes.

Unfortunetly levels 8 and 9 arnt up so theres nothing to do past 7.

I guess you can get the orginal source to a php file, id try download accelerator, but i dont know if that will work. Basically what you need to do is fool the webpage into thinking you have what it wants. See above.

You'd have to somehow trick the server into thinking that the php is not php, and therefore it should not interpret the scripts... I don't see how using telnet and acting like a browser would help. :???:

You dont need the php source. Why would you want to trick the server? Telnet/putty is much easier.

In fact, when I started the level, I didn't even realize I was hacking... I just started trying to find the password from habit. That's pretty sad actually...
