What's slow is not the poke or the pset, it's checking for screen limits with every pixel. You will find the fastest's library PSET slower than a well designed routine checking the limits for a whole sprite then poking only the visible pixels. And that's just what the PUT routines in the libraties make and that's where libraries beat plain QB. Libraries use to have accurate sprite rotating routines also...

Course, then your saving precious bytes for something else...but then you gotta be quite confident cuz u can seriously screw stuff up if you mess up the checks...
