#21
optical mice work better on mouse pads, too. i just tried it.

i like 'em cuz they are cool and don't need cleaning. =)

*stops widdling for a moment....spits in tin can of beans which was recently eaten cold.

Let's not get crazy with this, optic mouses are great and all, BUT THERE F**KIN DANGEROUS TOO. when i was little, we got an optic mouse, me being the most gullible creature on the earth, was told to look under neath too see where the ball was. now i need to wear an eye-patch! they called me names all throughout elementary school! oh well, what can you do. did i ever tell you about the time when.....

*trails off into story about the 60's and pirates with dismembered limbs/optic injury due to optic mice....

May optical mice be better, but I dislike them. I simply *can't* draw a goddamned sprite with one of those weightless stupid things. And if they are wireless... aw! Bateries last less than a month!

I love ball mice. Yeah, you have to clean them, but that's not much trouble. And they work flawlessly. In MSDOS and whatever you can imagine. No stupid drivers, no harware updates and such.

But the main reason is that I feel ball miceway more comfortable. With an optical mouse I just can't measure the strength of my hand movement to draw a line. If you watch me drawing a sprite with my mouse........ I do it automaticly. When I tried one of those optical mice I drew pixels just where the damned machine wanted.

Im another darkages person, original 3 button Genius ball mouse and original IBM-XT keyboard(the really big one with the clicky keys). I dont really use the mouse much, except for games and then I don't mind cleaning it. But no way will I use a mouse-wheel, those things are /really/ bad for OOS/RSI/Whatever its called now.

lol, mouse wheel's are bad for your health?? Guys, this is some of the dumbest things I've ever heard... Oh, and a word of advice "Don't look straight into the laser!!!" Ok, I just did... I can still see just as good as I always could Wink

I'm not sure it's really a laser (not even a semiconductor/LED one)
since I have looked into some of them and they only look like
one of thos these extra-bright-LED's if anything...

...But once I found a laser pointer or what it's called and wondered,
-what's this? looked into the little hole, puched the button and
got a lot of red light in my eye, but I don't have a bad sight for that...
