Well I think I remember reading at these very forums a little while ago about how some other guy owns it now but keeps hold of it because it is a very important name... but I think the QBasic community deserves better than that. The first I knew of the world of QBasic was by that site, and because it wasn't updated I thought that QBasic was dead... and look at the community here! Nearly 800 people from all over the world have at least a partial interest, and we all know that for each one of us there are 20 who were in our computer class at school who learned part of the language...

I think the person who owns it should either a) sell it or b) update the links, as I suggested above, so at least there is a chance of a new user finding the real QBasic community...

So it all comes down to Relsoft. Who owns the domain now? Can we contact them? Could we get them to do an update? (Like I suggested in an earlier post, we could all submit links and someone could write the code for the page in the standard QBasic.com style, so he would only have to FTP it up).

He just visited. I didn't know it was him until after about an hour of talking to him. About 6 months ago I think.

Well, he told me he can't do anything about it as the current owner doesn't want to sell it to anyone in any price. Stupid sod.

If you ask the regulars(Alipha, etc) at the Qbasic.com's board, the stupid owner only wanted the advertisers cash.

So there's no way of contacting him at all, or persuading him to FTP up *one* page? I think we should press on Mallard for this. The QB community is suffering because of one stupid greedy person.

Hard Rock: Yeah, I noticed that too. Maybe someone wants to buy the stupid site off him. If I had a chance I'd pay $100 CDN. Probably doesn't want to sell it though.

Yeah. I reached this community by pure coincidence. In the first times, I used to hang around the still updated QBasic.com (beginning of 1999), then I moved to Master Creating, then Vplanet, then here.

Such an outdated page is doing lots of harm to the comunitty. I think the site should become a portal to link to all QB big (and small) places... There should be something we *could* do.
