Well, I've found it faster. My Allegro game runs in a 486 in DOS in lo-res, in a P120 in DOS in hi-res, but you need at least a PII 400Mhz to run it in hi-res under windows (MSVC), using system bitmaps and acceleration. That's 'cause it is a wrapper in Windows and a direct VESA/ModeX lib in DOS, I believe.
