File Transfer Protocol, for transfer of files on the web. GDM was making a proggie for doing that in QB. FTP2 must be the sequel then.

Most of us know what FTP is. I just didn't know what FTP2 was. Based on what Oracle said, it's an FTP-type utility written in QB.

I did a lot of work with FTP in the last 6 years. It's an extremely reliable product, but it's also complex. I have written several frontend utilities in QuickBasic that invoke FTP.

GDM: What is the real reason that you want to re-do this utility in QB when you can invoke it easily from QB?

GDM:
You asked me to rephrase.
Are you doing the FTP2 as an exercise, or do you have a special need that can't be done by invoking FTP from a QB program?
Put another way: Why are you wanting to write FTP2?

I once wrote a FTP server in classroom, of course in Unix and C, using sockets, forking processes and stuff. In QB? You may be using DSock. Good luck!

A FTP client is way harder, 'cause there are many FTP servers that work with different commands. You'll have to read tons of documentation.

And I plainly don't understand why you asked Moneo to rephrase, his statements were completely correct, well writen and fully understandable.

Thanks, Nathan, I was beginning to doubt my English writing (redacción) capabilities.
