Hm... I'm guessing the game is SWG (Star Wars Galaxies) and that you can program bots in there. I'm also guessing that each bot has some sort of file associated with it that has its programming inside. I am also guessing that this file is only accessible through the game server (the file is inside the server), and therefore only programmable in the game.

WHAT IS A BOT?
I found the following:

The article went on to say that a practical application of "bots" is used in data mining.

In the gaming world, a bot is often a NPC with some kind of AI that you can inject in a game, for example pals in Quake who help you finish your mission, or authomatic enemies for deathmatches.

In the internet, bots are programs that automaticly scan sites looking for email addresses (forums are like honey for such activities) to spam, for example.

In games, bots usually are programs which help you doing something like controlling your figure. E.g. in Unreal Tournament there are Trigger Bots (automatically fires your gun when moving over an enemy), AimBots (automatically aim to nearest enemy), WallHack (looks through walls), etc, etc...
