Optimisation issue : HSV to RGB exact conversion
#11
...seem to be very efficient: I just cross-looked over your optimised version of the TC-Lib, Antoni, and I fell on your xlut and ylut variables. I will study that...

Anyway, I'm convinced HSV will be helpful to a lot of people : I think there will be more adepts when I issue an english version of the existing tutorial of the Dazibao.

I think I started thiking about that approach after viewing a page on Robert Munafo M-Set Encyclopedia...

Your tutorial has helped me a lot. Once you visualize the geometry of the thing, HSV is easy and more user friendly than RGB...

The lookup tables are very useful to calculate banks and offsets because screen lines and columns are integer values, but in this case indexes would be floating point, not so straightforward...

Wait a second, so you're telling me that copying that whole thingy at the bottom several times does nothing for speed? :normal:

While waiting for Jark to translate his tutorial about HSV here is a link I have found

The Gimp documentation about HSV is actually the best page to understand the geometry. Unfortunately, it doesn't provide any algorithm. I developed my routine on this basis anyway, and it was a real pain in the back because of that cosine and sine stuff.

What I plan to do is to rewrite my tutorial with detailed 3D pictures : I had no raytracer last year, but it should be easy now I have TC-Ray...
