From my perspective, it became very common with the advent of RTSes that allow people to rush. At "game X", some people are beginners. Others are intermediates. Others are experts. Yet still others are Super-Experts.

Well, I dunno, but the amount of people using newsgroups is << the amount of people playing RTSes... maybe some people came to newsgroups and started the l33tsp34k...... and the rest just mimicked and advanced the cause......
