Well... I had a question... but we're talking bout films now

Quote:It is a problem that I have: I like sci-fi a whole lot (mainly books) and usually I am very critic when I see an intended sci-fi movie. Most of them claim to be sci-fi but they aren't but fantasy films. MR is a fantasy film IMHO, it has not a sci-prone basis AFAIK. Maybe I watch it again.

It really depends on your definition of sci-fi. Most people either associate 'sci-fi' with the swashbuckling space adventures of Star Wars, or else with the deeper philisophical questions of ST:TNG. If you belong to the first group, then Minority Report is not sci-fi, otherwise it is.

My only issue with the film is that watching it, it feels very long. However, it comes to a complete resolution at the end. Many directors would have simply rolled credits halfway through and left it hanging -- spielberg doesn't do that. Exhibit B: AI.

Hmmm, I am in the first group. To me, Star Wars and Star Treck are Fantasy series by all means. The don't have a scientiphic basis. I see MR more in this group, but may I be wrong. It did not convice me, I say, it was not so real for me. There are a lot of things that just happen without explanation, so there is fantasy in there. Maybe I'm being too strict, but let me consider this film in the border.

About Schindler's List, please don't misunderstand me. I *loved* that film, and I am very aware about what it talks about. I just felt that it was not so objective in times (if objectiveness can be applied to such a horrid situation) -- urh... just ignore me. I usually tend to think a lot about unuseful things Big Grin. In sub: I loved that film. It is the best film that Spielberg has done, IMHO.

Quote:The Matrix and Wag the Dog are fictictious and highly, highly unlikely settings.

Of course they are, but movies tend to make people think in a
different way than before and especially Wag the dog
makes me think that a lot less, of what we see on tv
or read or..., than we think is real. And when it comes
to the end: How much do we know and how much do
we think we know.

I wonder wich connection type the humans had linked between
their neck and the matrix, USB?

USB for cognition, S-VIDEO for images and a 1.5 mm stereo Jack for audio Big Grin.

The data port is 64 bits wide.

it depends.. it's not spielberg's best, but as a thriller i say it's one of the best movies this year, let alone, this century (that doesnt mean a whole lot right now but it is a good movie)

so yeah. i'd waste my time on it. good special effects, interesting plot, gets a little "ai" with the ending but it's what ai should have been.

Quote:Brandi: Suitor #3? Is your kiss like a soft breeze, a firm handshake or a jackhammer?

Gil: Definetely a jackhammer, I'm in there with some pressure and when I'm done, you're not the same as before.

Brodie: Where do you come up with this shit? That's the cheesiest response to an honest question I have ever heard. I saw you kiss and it was'nt anything like that.

Host: Suitor #2 You must wait until you're addressed before you respond.

Brodie: Richard Dawson, go back to your podium until it's time to play the fued, all right?

Gil: Who the hell did you see me kiss?

Brodie: Some dude backstage, I don't know who he was, but he seemed unimpressed.

Gil: I did'nt kiss any guy backstage, I swear! I'm not gay!

Brodie: Hey, Suitorette, this guy's a homophobe, you heard how repulsed he sounded. Is that the kind of guy you want to spend a vacation with, this hate monger?

Gil: I don't hate gay people!

Brodie: So you love them?

Gil: Yes! I mean no!

How do you fit that in one contact?, because in the film there is only
one cable to the neck DB25?

...And they sure don't use .Net for the network...

Easy. You just take a bunch of fixing tape and roll it all around the three connectors.
