C++ string handler problem
#21
Good. Stay in school. With that spelling and sentence butchering, you obviously need it. Tongue I'd hate to know your teacher if you're getting straight A's...

And yes I'm very familiar with all the new C standards, including C#. That doesn't change the fact that they're still relics and your argument is still lame. Smile
I'd knock on wood, but my desk is particle board.

I put down more effort in my school work then when I'm posting on message boards like this one and the fact that my teacher doesn't give a f**** about how you spell as long as you know "your way around the langunge" which she thinks I do (for some reason (I just smilie and nod anything else would be stupid Wink))

Relic:
1. Something that has survived the passage of time, especially an object or custom whose original culture has disappeared: “Corporal punishment was a relic of barbarism” (Cyril Connolly).
2. Something cherished for its age or historic interest.
3. An object kept for its association with the past; a memento.
4. An object of religious veneration, especially a piece of the body or a personal item of a saint.
5. or relics A corpse; remains.

Seeing this I can't see how you can call C/C++ relics...

And how lame is an argument which which you try to keep people from making unserten (in lack of better word) behavoir which very easly causes your programs to crash etc.

C/C++ fit into #2 and #3 there, dude, as well as #1 from a literary point of view.

Did I say it sucked? Where did I say that? Point it out to me where I said C/C++ sucked.

Well a relic is somthing which has no use today... alright you never said it sucked but what should one use instad of C/C++ arn't to be trusted anymore (and no you never said that but a relic is somthing which has no use anymore)

I don't see anything in your definition of a relic which says something which no longer has a use, but sitting here debating definitions and whatnot gets no one anywhere, so why bother. Big Grin

I use C on a regular basis...I also use various forms of BASIC and assembler. The fact that all three are relics of programming doesn't make them useless (actually, MASM32 isn't a relic in its present state, but since I also code in 6502 assembly, that would be considered a relic).

You really have to stop putting words in my mouth. It's sort of annoying. Big Grin

I see the point in main() returning int. But why not let is return char! 8)
Anyway, I'm not exactly writing progs stressing points on cross-compatability. Unless there's a hot market for factorial-figurers. :wink:
And...Turbo C++ doesn't support the string class. What compiler are you using? I've never heard of such a wonderful thing!
[EDIT]I've just discovered Mingw32 and Dev-C++ *drools*[/EDIT]
