I got into linux and changed the quality to 30%, but the image is still almost the same size... prolly something to do with how the image is made. It will become smaller as I play with it...

jpegs choke on simple images. they're great for compressing images with a great deal of color, but when it comes to fine details it can't keep up. save it as a gif if you can. considering what you're doing, it's by far the best option.

gif would be ideal, but gd has removed support for gif until the patent expires. So if you're using php to generate, you have to output in jpeg or png. (or I suppose you could use bmp if you're retarded...)

well, png is slightly comparable to gif... I guess... It should beat jpg anyhow.
dammit. I keep forgetting that gd is part of php's standard library. stupid php... There's only so far you can go with how much crap is in your standard library.
