Help wanted RE: Slackware install on 8MB RAM
#11
Really odd. I installed W95 to a 4 megs computer once.

Make this:

1.- Install MSDOS 6.22 or alike
2.- Execute MEMMAKER.EXE to configure your memory
3.- Install Windows 95 on top.

What if I can't get MS-DOS 6.22/similar? I mean, I MAY be able to, but if not? I'll try downloading MEMMAKER.

You can get MEMMAKER and all the files it needs from the OLDMSDOS folder in your Win95 CDROM (well, at least in mine Tongue).

You can try looking for MSDOS distros on the Internet. They're not exactly 100% legal, but MS didn't give people much other choice. Also, considering the fact that they consider DOS to be dead and now they try denying its existence in the first place, I don't think it's going to be much of a problem. Smile

That part of the installation is OK now, I removed some stupid caching utilities and got myself some more EMS... but now, setup demands ~780000 bytes of space on drive C: . So I use fdisk and create a Primary DOS partition (20% of disk space), which is auitomatically made drive C:, and an Extended DOS partition (all the rest) and put a Logical Drive on the Extended Partition, made drive D:. Problem is, it doesn't like using the Primary DOS partition, and the Logical drive is set at D: and cannot be changed. What do I do?

Never mind, I figured it out. It just took a certain amount of not-being-an-idiotness Wink. Having Windows gives me a guilty pleasure...
