qbasic.tk's challenge
#1
How many people are entering?

Roguelike games are fun to code, but it's a lot of work. If you think you're up to the challenge though, give it a shot. You'll be competing against ME! Wink  A number of people over there are doing it but I was hoping a lot of people would jump on this one. I've spent the last few hours (while Rhia sleeps peacefully! hehehe) working on my entry. Hope to see some really good submissions in this one. Smile

For all those interested:
Go here to sign-up and read about what the competition is all about: http://qbtk.hybd.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=54

What is a roguelike:
(A quote from the author of ADOM)
Quote:Ancient Domains of Mystery (ADOM for short) is a rogue-like game which means that it is a single-user game featuring the exploration of a dungeon complex. You control a fictional character described by race, class, attributes, skills, and equipment. This fictional character is trying to achieve a specific goal (see below) and succeed in a difficult quest. To fulfill the quest, you have to explore previously undiscovered tunnels and dungeons, fight hideous monsters, uncover long forgotten secrets, and find treasures of all kind.
During the game, you explore dungeon levels which are randomly
generated each game. You might also encounter certain special levels, which present a particular challenge or are built around a certain theme.

Challenge entries are to be posted in the before mentioned thread, where you can of cause also discuss, and read the rules. But no one's gonna kill you for discussing it here Wink .

Currently these people are competing to make a rogue like: Adosorken, lkt153, Webberboy, Mofu, Zack, ThaMariuZ, and of cause myself.

Every ones welcome of cause, and the more people the greater fun! Closing date is March 1, but can be extended if anyone thinks it's too short a time.

And, don't forget to read Jocke's own articles on rogue likes. BTW, thanks Ado and Jocke for spreading the word. Big Grin

Edit: Spelling *sigh* Wink .

Thats the only trouble, if it was a discussion it would be better in the general QB forum. Its not just to be annoying, but its nice to keep things in the correct section, not everyone reads every forum/post here ;-)

I figured that that was the perfect reason to post it in here Smile coz only people interested in challenges read this forum, so anyone interested in participating in a challenge would come here...makes sense, right? Big Grin
