#31
Call me n00b or something, but exactly what is telnet?
To me, it sounds like a pre- internet thing...

hahahah you guys are hilarious Smile I'm glad you're enjoying the game!

Re: Ryan. You get 30 moves a day (more, if you do certain things within the game Wink Wink Wink ... ) They reset at midnight EST (that's what my 'puter's clock is set to). They don't carry over day-to-day. one of the things about BBS games is that they're supposed to entice people to play evey day by rewarding them like that.

Telnet is just an internet protocol - like HTTP, FTP, etc.
You set up servers, connect to them, and retrieve stuff. Port 23.
f only life let you press CTRL-Z.

Basicly, telnet provides a remote terminal. That means that you connect with a server, and you receive text output and send text input. It can be some kind of remote dos box. For example, I use telnet to connect with my college's big computer thru' the internet. The computer is a Sun Ultra Sparc running Solaris 9, and its telnet server is configured to start a console session so I can type in commands and work with the programs installed in the computer remotely from my PC.

This game has now turned from mildly annoying to horrible.

I am dead and back at room *1*!!

Aga.. obviously never played bbs door games before Wink

The loss of rooms turns out to be a benefit, really, as advancing past the multiples of 100 (room 100, 200, etc) brings you into a whole new world of Dungeon Crawler Baddies...

Could have stayed alive if I had some food and protection..

No way to sell things.

If I just had a way to sell things...

Drop 'em in the bottomless pit and it spits out money, or sell gems to the beggar if ya get to them. Of course, you might just never get to them. Tongue

I didn't die or anything, but I did drop like 300 points when my shortsword broke while attacking a stupid little fluffy bunny. bah

*EDIT*
Figured I wouldn't double post, so I just edited this one. BAH! Again.. bah. I didn't die, but I did flee from the boss of level 1. It doesn't help folks. Cry May as well try to beat him, as ya go back to Room 1 anyways.

(Meg, when you sit in the chair, you spelled completely wrong for a full heal.)

Thanks for the spelling correction. I'm sure there's hundreds. I'll fix it as soon as I get home from work.

The "SoUP" is not technically the level 1 boss. I haven't actually coded in the bosses yet, but the idea is that they'll be the pitfalls between each dungeon "Section" (rooms 1-99, rooms 101-199, rooms 201-299, etc.) with a boss at each interval of 100 (or just past 100, if you happen to jump ahead a couple rooms at that area).

So the plan would be to stay in rooms 1-99 until you get strong enough to kill the room 100 boss, and then you'll be in dungeon section #2, so when you die you'll end up back at room 101. Of course, if you use any of the several ways to warp backwards (the secret passage, warp scrolls, certain items, a few other rooms, etc) in room 101 or 102 you could theoretically end up under room 100 and have to fight the level one boss again =)

I'm glad you're all enjoying the game. Keep the corrections/suggestions coming and I'll keep updating!

*peace*
