Of course, nothing is perfect. To create a byte-perfect checksum all you need to do is compress the file with the best file-compressing algorithm there is. But with this, the Checksum will depend on the file's size!

Not only that.
CRC16 alone covers a single algorithm with different bit orders, initializations and post processing. Read the article...
