I explained this some time ago. Bit 7 = 0 => Key pressed. Bit 7 = 1 => Key released

I experimented a little with inp(&H60) only to discover that it
responds on mouse movement too :???:

It doesn't respond to the mouse for me, but it does have some odd behaviors:

1) When I press Caps Lock, Num Lock, or Scroll Lock, it displays 250 momentarily before the scan code for the key.

2) When Num Lock is on, the arrow keys and Insert through Page Down display a release code of 170 (Right Shift).

I also experience something like that with the arrow keys and
some other "special" keys, it also seems to disable
Ctrl+Break, Ctrl+C Ctrl+Alt+Del (at least in native dos, would be
interesting to see what it does with Alt+Tab and Alt+Enter in
windows heh) it also won't change the status of Num/Caps/Scroll lock
when pressing the appropirate key...
