Chef's Secret Recipe

Oi, children Big Grin

You cannot compare men and women. That's like comparing bananas and golf clubs. There may be some parallels but they are not enough to draw any conclusive theories from. All these boneheads trying to make comparisons are wasting their time because everyone's unique and it's the lifetime of a person that makes them who they are, not their sex. The sex of a person plays only a minor role.

If you want to talk about averages, yes, men are physically stronger than women on average. Thus, on average, men are superior to women in overall physical strength. However, how many men do you know who know how to sew a hem? Or even know what a hem is? How many men do you know who know the difference between bundt cake and angelfood cake? Unless that man's a baker, his knowledge of the two is probably going to be limited to "how each one tastes", if he even knows that much. You could use this to say that women are smarter than men, but it wouldn't be true. It's all individual.

And yes, medical science has been able to prove that a man's body IS capable, with tremendous modification, of giving "birth", and even allowing a developing fetus. It's also been proven through medical science that male sperm is not required for the creation of an embryo (again, takes a hell of a lot of modification). Neither side has weight anymore, and I'm glad.

I shall take a less discriminatory route from tBBQ to show my observations about females and males in academic life and attempt a conclusion from this.

In my high school, a high proportion of people in my classes were female. The classes I took were the most difficult ones.

In college, females make up a much smaller proportion than males in all of my classes so far, except:

*Mandatory USEM+W (mandatory writing classes for everyone)
*Art History

--------------------------------------------------

My conclusions:
*The tendency of the male population in high school is to take lower-effort courses, while it is the reverse for the female population.
*Out of those people who go to high-level universities, males tend to enjoy science and engineering related disciplines and females "liberal arts" disciplines, such as art, history, politics, physchology. When the math/science and "liberal arts" intersect, the male/female proportion is the same as the university male/female proportion.

Why is the proportion so different in college? I say it is simply because of the high school level difference, the reason for which I cannot say.

Females expect to continue high-school-ish "liberal arts" courses while males do not wish to do so, possibly because of the strong connection between "liberal arts" and female teachers. Perhaps there is a wish to disassociate oneself from such gender inequality in high school classes upon reaching the college level.
Peace cannot be obtained without war. Why? If there is already peace, it is unnecessary for war. If there is no peace, there is already war."

I know my english as well. About mental strength, men can handle mental pressure much better than women. A few years ago a study claimed that women handle mental pressure better than men because they release it my crying. But as their study made more progress they realised that this was just the opposite.

On the intelligence front, the male brain is in general larger(dont remember the exact %). So you have more convolutions(folds) which means more brain surface area, which means more neurons, which means more intelligence =).

And I am *not* saying that women are dumb.

I do know a lot of dumb women though, I've dated innumerable idiot women. Sad

Sttistics mean nothing in the real world. In this country for example, you cannot deny someone a job because of their sex, regardless of what the statistics say they can or cannot do better than the other sex. The only thing statistics are good for are little debates on public forums like this one. Big Grin

Why should anyone be denied a job because of gender? If he/she has the qualification or merit then the job should be given to him/her =).

But TBBQ, you said men was better, so if a man and a women both look for a job, the man will get it first, cause he's better. Your own argument.

Nek. agree, about 96.764522% (but thats just an aprox number)

As Nek said, and as I've tried to say through the entire thread, you cannot compare men to women, there is no aspect of men and women which are the same. We don't look alike, we don't think alike, we don't dress alike (well, starting too do it) and we don't handle things alike.

If nothing is remotly similar betveen us (apart from being human creatures) then there is no way of comparison.

It is like saying a HP Keyboard is worse than a MS one, because MS has a larger company, thus, it's better. Err...?

Z!re, I did say men were superior to women. But thats statistically. That doesnt mean that every man is superior to every woman, does it?

Very nice attempt, though :bounce:

Z!re why cant we compare men and women? We are homologous creatures. You may want to attack me on that statement. But heres some food for thought:

The human hand, bats wing, whale's paddle all are homologous i.e. their basic structure is same. Thus they can be compared. The only difference is that they are 'modified' for their specific function =).

We do not see each other by basic nature but rather by individualism. Therefore, it is not only incorrect but wholly inaccurate to compare men and women, let alone even men or women compared to others of their own genders but from different walks of life.

No, we can compare men and women but it's very very very complex =P.
