Printer problems....

First off I would like to say hi to everyone. First time through here and I hope someone will be able to help me with this particular problem that I am having.

Currently my dot matrix is not responding and consequently anything that is sent to lpt1 never gets printed.

I am on a lan at work and need to reassign lpt1 to \\FS-OPT1\LASER5

The person who has admin authority is off sick and won't be back for some time. There is no backup to this person so I am hoping that there is a way to make this reassignment within the framework of QBasic.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can use 'NET USE' from shell.
As a matter of fact, you can often use this locally as well, by putting your local computer name in as the "server name". In some cases, this will let you print to USB and other inaccesible printers... but not always. Some printers just don't support direct text.


NET USE LPT1: \\FS-OPT1\LASER5
