Meaningless thread title...so...*gasp*...annoying
#11
What does
Help!!== Help!!! have one thing to do with page flipping ?
It doesent. If you took all the new post & made pepole put some kind of reasonable title to their threads then it would be more readable would you not agree... But this should be more up to the posters themselves as a courtesy to all.

I mean really what kind of thread is this

????????????????

that says alot doesent it.

What they mean is, the forum'd do a match on a subject for the word help, and if it was found the subject would have to be changed. That's too tricky. Perhaps we'll do a global announcement on "how to post and get an answer". Then if you see a topic that starts with "HELP!!!" after that just ignore it.

oh I see hmm well the only sad thing is its like Zack said you sometimes pass up what in most of yourns case would be to help & in my case to get a answer for a question ...
But yes a announcement on thread tittles is appropriate i beleive

It's called netiquette. Anyone who doesn't have it can simply be ignored, as you can also always ignore a nondescriptive post. If someone posts something nondescriptive and you have limited time, no one's forcing you to click that link, now are they? No. It's yet another case of pure common sense. It would be a good addition to the forum rules or policies or whatever you call them these days to include something about "meaningful topics", but don't expect every Tom Dick and Harry n00B to actually follow it, let alone even read it.

And if you're one of those people who bitches about "oh but it shows as a new post!" they just read the posts you want to read and then click the magical little "Mark all posts read" link. Wow! Big Grin
I'd knock on wood, but my desk is particle board.

I find myself using that feature more and more, as my time here is limited. If I see another admin has posted in a thread I can ignore it.

I suppose we can just leave it as is. People with the time can help bad posters, but I don't. Lesson for newbies: If you want an answer, at least tell us the question straight away Wink

Nek's right... this problem really isn't that bad to where we can't just ignore them. We don't need any mods to enforce topic titles... beleive me, that would just be a nuisance...

And Bluffer, I was referring to the "Help" thing TBBQ wrote, as in, if someone wrote a topic title that included the word 'help' in it then the topic title wouldn't be allowed. Now 'poligize to me. Smile Wink

"I need help with page flipping"

--I'm sorry. This subject title is not allowed--

.................no................

Dude if you dont understand something then ask. I didnt say that all subject lines containing the word "Help" should be banned rather subjects which have the word "Help" and its variants like "Help!!!", "Help!", "Please Help!" should be disallowed
