How did u learn qbasic?
#11
A combination of 2 books: How to Invent Your Own Video Games and The Complete Idiots Guide to QBasic (they quote this guy off Cheers on the back of it saying that even he could learn qb from this book hehe).

My dad made a text-based 'math game' for me to play with when I was about 6. I started by modifying that (changing the colours and text and so on...), and gradually moved to more complex procedural stuff and data types an so on, but it was still pretty haphazard (a zillion title-screen-no-game unfinished projects). When I was fourteen, I discovered DQB, and although I never did much with it, I became vastly more familiar with the workings of memory and video and stuff.

That knowledge was expanded and put to use when I did Turbo PASCAL 7.0 at school in gr10. I trashed the pathetic built-in Borland graphics system and wrote my own asm gfx lib for the overhead scrolling engine I made for a final project in the course. I also learned a lot about pointers and linked lists and stuff.

Recently I've played a bit with VB6 and VC6 in conjunction with OpenGL, but I have several other personal projects (video editing, loop music, 3dsmax...) on the move (as well as schoolwork), so there hasn't been much progress.
