i booted one time from a linux boot disck. the num, cap and scroll lock lights came on. because i dont have linux on my computer i turned the power off, but the lights stayed on. that has never happened before. carzy...

I have noticed an amazing ability in some led's (in my case one's on the rm screens...) to stay on when the powers not? Don't ask me how it works...

diroga, the lights must have gone off after sometime?
jatos, it happens with my spike protector as well =P. But whats even creepier is that the light glows dimly even if i unplug it =P.

The computer: Probably some capacitors
(works approx like small accumulators)
The spike protector: I guess it's aither capacitors
or coils that causes the effect...

Try unplugging the machine. If the lights stay on, blame it on the Martians - otherwise, it's a faulty circuit.
