RecallVeriSign.com is a petition to remove VeriSign as the managers of the root servers of .com and .net. Verisign is so corrupt and greedy they are even suing ICANN in order to not be removed. Verisign is the author of the infamous "Sitefinder" and has implemented other sneaky tactics in order to fool the consumer, such as sending emails to domain owners saying their domain will expire and they must renew it now, through Verisign of course, at $35/yr, when you can obviously get it cheaper elsewhere. Support ICANN and sign the petition.

Heheh. I got a piece of mail (the snail kind) a week ago, reminding me that my domain name is expiring soon. It wasn't from my registrar. It was from "VeriSign Canada." It basically went on, without explicitly saying that it WASN'T my registrar, in a fashion that suggested it was, and that I'd need to pay THEM in order to renew my domain name (which isn't true at all). The price was about five times what I paid at the registrar I use.
I think I'll sign, just because of that.

What I find funny about this is that VeriSign is attempting to use anti-trust in their case against ICANN. Under US law, a company can be prosecuted for monopolistic practices, hence the anti-trust laws. The problem here is that you cannot bring anti-trust charges against a non-profit organization, which is what ICANN is.
I have followed VeriSign's corruption for a couple of years now. I gladly signed this petition.
I'd knock on wood, but my desk is particle board.

They screwed up the 'net before, didn't they. Parking on every domain meant that a page that should have been a straight 404 became a "maybe, maybe not". I'll sign.

Yep, I signed as well.... Their website makes them sound so nice... trustworthy and everything. Its time people got the hard facts. And those webfinder pages are annoying!
