Zack: If you are gonna use any rellib specific translucency, ditch the standard pal and use the first one(RPG.Pal). Trust me, RelLib translucency relies on 16 color gradient pal.

So you could use any pal as long as its in 16 color grad. Like RPG.Pal and Gradient.Pal

Problem with that: if I'm supposed to use only 20 colors or so, and in a row, I'll need to alter the gradient palette so that I have a row of different colors (skin, shadoweded-skin, hair, lighter hair, darker hair, clothes, shadowed clothes, shoes). And then it won't be a gradient anymore.

This is how im doing my RPG... just take either GRADIENT.PAL or RPG.PAL and use them. Now just create your character using a number of colours from ANYWHERE in the palette. Dont use too much, and try not to use the functions like "smooth" or "unzag". They wont look good on the outcome. Again, try not to use too many colours. The output will be fine for your RPG, and for translucency. Its worked fine for me!

...but I'm supposed to use the colors that are in a row in the palette.

SCM: THanks, that's what I meant Smile

Thanks everyone for the nice words.

Zack: If you want to use a fixed palette you can use whichever colours you want. It just depends on what you are gonna do. If you are gonna use Rel's translucency effects, you need that gradient palete. It is just up to you to decide.

Myself prefer a nice 16 bits mode Big Grin

I think that depends on the graphics card. In my Geforce4 computer it works, in my portable (Radeon) doesn't.

Well, my ubercrappy Intel integrated gfx unit combined with WinXP doesn't like PrintScreen in combination with DOS proggies.
I drew another...but each is more crappy than the last, so I won't post it. Smile
