Quickbasic IDE
#1
Why dont you guys make a new QB IDE and make it OO and with GUI programming? Change it enough so Microsoft couldn't sue you. Just think of the money you could make. Dev-QB lol just an idea.

It's been done. Called Visual Basic for Windows.
Available from Kazaa, or from your local computer software store.

Freebasic is like QB, except it doesn't suck.

1. Thats already being done...

2. Make it object orientated? That would completely change the language! You cant just "make it object orinetated" Like that....

3. Would you like fries with that? It is a LOT of work to make something like that, and Microsoft dont give a sh1t in the first place.

Have you ever seriously used VB? Really, have you? Because take a look at a simple database program. That's a lot of code. The only part of VB that's taken by drag and drop is....the GUI. Past that, make perhaps a little QB Editor with synax highlighing - still a lot of code.
So VB is 3/4 programming, and it certainly isn't BS.

GUIs are hard. Compilers are hard. Not hard, like would take a few weeks. Like hard, you'd waste months of your life to make a product that neither compares to a professional tool already out there nor would even become popular as a free tool. There is a lot of optimization to those things that has been built upon for years.

Plus docens of people working and beta-testing, documenting and creating more, and more, and more controls for it.

Want a free GUI compiler? Try XBasic or Envelop Basic. The latter has even OO support. But they don't even get to the 1% of potential VB has.
