Quote:Why don't you invest $10 and get a Pentium...?

10 USD = a Pentium?!!! WOW!!!

A pentium 166 with 400 MB HD w/o monitor cost 70 USD here.

Compare that to my Cyrix Pr233, 2.16 HD(used to be working), and a monitor, for 90 USD.

Darn, Intel has amassed a great deal of $$$ by name alone. ;*(

Depending on who you know, you can even get them for free...sometimes companies get new computers and just give their old ones away, because it's cheaper than paying to dispose of them.

(I have some other problems on this subject on what i would not like to talk here... But the money is too...)

Do not care about it. A 4.86 is a good machine! Smile

Quote:Code:

FPS's:
Dot tunnel: 7.672251
Plasma: 2.057659
Moire: 2.805448
Fire: 7.185245
Text'd cube: 1.818289
Cube-lens: 1.644011
Poly-tunnel: 3.528304
Qbasic will never die!!!!

(I have got a 30Mhz 4.86)

Whoa, dude. I agree with Plasma on this one. On my machine (750Mhz laptop) it runs like this:

Code:
Dot tunnel:    76
Plasma:        54
Moire:         100
Fire:          36
Text'd cube:   21
Cube-lens:     18
Poly-tunnel:   38

I'm very glad however that it was still entertaining at that speed! Smile Thank you.

Quote:no libaries, how long did it take you to write that

hmm... a few months all together. I kept changing it though. Mostly because I was learning as I was making it. Every time I thought I was done I'd learn a new trick and start over. And using a lib actually wouldn't do much to it. At most it could make plotting a pixel faster or maybe displaying the screen buffer faster. But most of the CPU time is spent on calculating what pixel to plot. And if you're gonna use a lib for that it might as well not be in Qbasic.

I think your code is excellent! Smile It works very fast...

Thanks for the advices and offerings...
I do not think that a computer would be still 10USD until it arrives from America to Hungary.

And to tell the truth we (the family) have two computers: a P233, and my 4.86. But that first is only left alone after midnight (I am writing from it now): it is placed next to the television (with a huge 50Hz screen) so i would be blind to my left eye if i had programmed at it. And not to mention that then everyone watches what i am doing...

So i had not started any programming language on it since i set up that good old 4.86 Smile
