How do you rate the QB IDE?

The graphical look isn't very much to talk about
because it's in DOS SCREEN 0

-but hey all things are there...

What you call "not much to talk about", is functional. I personally prefer it to any other IDE/Editor I've used elsewhere(Windows or MS-DOS based)

Functionality over graphics. Hmmm... it's really necessary to have a super-graphical-interface-with-lotsa-buttons-and-mice-support to write a piece of code? Sad

Anyways, I find the QB IDE incredibly schweet, but to claim that's the best IDE sounds for me a bit strange. Just my opinion.

The QB IDE is the best I've used. Its got great futures. For simple editing e.g. for perl I don't need anything more than notepad or edit.. but IDEs are always nice to help. The IDE for MS-VC 4.0 was 'orrible ;-)

Heh... I have to agree with you about VC's IDE. Notepad is more user-friendly than that. Big Grin

first off, qb's ide was DEFINATELY advanced for 1987. there are features in there that easily rival the best ides today, most notably the case-correction and syntax checking. i'm sure they had the ability to highlight syntax back then, but think to yourself... in 16-color screen zero text dont tell me that wouldnt look *slightly* wierd. also, it would make customizing colors waay to difficult. no, i value the two forementioned features high above syntax highlighting. i recognize my own code, and i dont need it. frankly, i'd like to see some of these features put into modern 32-bit ides. the only other kind i can stand for qb editing is notepad with the font set to terminal...

Advanced for 1987 yes... But now...

However, it's still THE BEST.

Maybe there will also be a Windows version of the Old Dos QB IDE. Which can handle resolutions from the old 320x200 to 3200x2400 or something. What about it?

as I said "It's all there";

The only(?) thing that differs from win32 IDEs is the
GRAPHICS! (okay I've only seen one other: Bloodsheed Dev C++)
