It left because it was completely unrelated to this site Wink. But I think it's still around somewhere (just not visible to you guys). So don't lose all hope Wink

@Josaih: Thanks for being sensible about it Smile. Your decision is yours to make, of course.

Whatever you do I think that you should have some kind of forum for misc topics; if you don't you would be putting yourself in a position where you are missing a feature that is important part of most of forums.

You cannot be serious... guys!! Please dont close the general forum! It may be a place that occasionally an arguement or two wil break out, but thats just human nature, isnt it?? I dont see a reason in the world why cosing the general forum is a good idea. A massive part of the Qmmunity heart has just been lost... in the blink of an eye. This is a mistake, and I reckon that QBnews will suffer greatly in the long term. Please Please Please reconsider your actions.

I have friends here, in this forum. What If I just wanted to tell them about something really interesting that I found, or sme random piece of humor or info. Or maybe a fascinating website that has nothing to do with computers.... where do I put that? Are we banned from discusing topics like that?

Good way to put it dark_prevail! Keep the general either that or put one where people can go off-topic - don't be bearocrats, pardon my spelling.

The General Forum is what keeps everyone at the forum in the first place. In about 90% of the forums out there, the General Section is most likely to have the highest amount of posts, no matter what the forum is about...

*Splitting the "Tech Talk" and "General" forums? -- Good idea.
*Deactivating the General forum? -- Bad, and probably even pointless.

Honestly... no good can come out of this whatsoever.

I say it again, the General forum *is* the community! This forum is, of all the others I've seen, the least spammed, the nicest, the best community, and perhaps the biggest!

Taking away the general forum will not result in less spam/flames/wars.

It will result in thoose things sneaking into other topics:
Take a look at my new Game: Ultra blood killing carnage deluxe gore edition 5

It sucks.

Remember the thread about red_marvin buying a new computer?
That thread was more heated then the religion thread, but religion is banned and computer talk is allowed?

I understand that religion has nothing to do with QB Programming, but seriously, does buying a new computer have anything to do with it?

And what is Tech Talk:
I beleive in technology, not religion

Would that qualify?

You see, there is no escaping it, no matter what you do you'll either end up with:
a) No/A few forum members
b) Out of controll raving/ramblings in every section

Make clear rules, and IF a topic starts to go out of hand then give a warning, to the topic, and if it doesent get any better, lock it.

You cant say "this forum is about QB, nothing else" and then allow other things to be discussed/debated, as long as you approve.
THAT will scare members away, not the fact that there is a heated religious debate going on.

I mean, AAP still visits, he's one of the most religious people I know of (no pun intended)
As far as I know, he hasn't complained.
And if he have, then, why are you listening to someone talking complaining about religion, on a QB forum.

Score one for the good guys...

Oh no. Hold up.

Oh yeah that's right...nobody's winning here.

You guys just shot yourselves in the foot. I don't know whether it is ignorance, vanity, tight-assedness or what that made you do this, but don't. I have absolutely no idea what would make you do this.

Was it the Passion Of The Christ topic? If that's what you called heated, then you guys are dumbasses...and have a shit memory.

Don't do this out of spite of a few people, it's not fair on the other people that visit this forum.

You go to a school, people are going to talk about other things besides Maths or Science. You go to an office, people are going to talk about things other than filing, or the latest order or the new uber733t photocopy machine upstairs.

Oh and the stuff about asking active members of this forum.
Is that a bad attempt at lying? Has anyone sided with you on this? No. So what, were you lying? Or did you PM your friends, or as it seems likely, each other, and ask what they thought? If people agreed to this, I'd love to see it.

Why are you trying to make this place so difficult to swallow?

Think about this one again guys.

Slowly.[/i]

Yes, but given the fact that [random] visits this forum, we can assume he programs, thus we can assume he do have a computer.

Thus, does the fact that he is buying a new one have anything to do with programming in QB?

Not really, does it?

(Not sure if you were joking or not plasma... I kinnda hope you were... lol)
