If you load SBMIDI with the /3 switch you don't need VDMSound.

huh. It doesn't work though. I don't know that much about .bat files, so I don't know what to do. This is what my .bat file says:
Code:
Sbmidi /3
Sbsim
Vdmsrun.bat qb/l
SBSIM /u
SBMIDI /u

any ideas?

[Edit] ok, nevermind. I took out the Vdmsrun.bat and it works. However, it sounds kinda, um, how shall I put this, WIERD! It doesn't play all the notes that go together at the same time.

That's probably where VDMsound comes in...........

Wrong. Remove the vdmsound stuff from there, and to run with vdmsound right-click on the batch file and select "run with vdms", or if you are in the DOS prompr, type "DOSDRV" before running your batch file.

Try decreasing the program's idle sensitivity. (Misc tab in the properties of _default.pif in your windows directory.)

If that doesn't help, try another MIDI file. (The 1st sample MIDI that comes with QMIDI sounds kind of funky, if that's what you're talking about.)

huh? Remove vdmsound from where? And when I right click on the batch file, there is nothing that says "run with vdms".

Na_th_an, he hasn't installed VDMsound yet, because he is not "logged in as admin" on his computer in which to do so...

I meant the vdmrun.bat stuff in his batch file.

Anyhow, to call a bat from another bat and keep running the previous bat after the second bat has ended (uh?) use CALL:

Code:
@echo off
rem this is a batch file
cls
call second.bat
echo Hey! Still running!

Blitz had said something about the XP VDM having bad PIT emulation...I wonder if this would be affected?
